When a menstrual cup is purchased in the adequate size and inserted properly, it should not cause any pain or discomfort. You should not even notice it is there. However, if you notice any pain or discomfort with use of a menstrual cup- you should check if it is inserted properly and see if reinserting alleviates the discomfort. If it continues to cause you pain after you have confirmed you inserted it correctly, then you need to discontinue use and opt for a different size.
