What shall I do if removing the cup is very painful?
I have been using a menstrual cup for two cycles and am quite happy with it. Still there are some things I keep struggling with. Inserting it with the C-fold was really painful, didn’t work properly and also made me bleed. After trying another folding method it was way better, but taking it out again is still very painful. While this is my first cup I don’t know if this one is just too big and thick for me? It is a lady cup and I am using the smaller size. I really don’t know what to do, so I would be glad if you could help me. Thank you all!
Hi There!
A lot of times during removal, if a cup isn’t slightly collapsed, it may brush or bump up against the urethra. This can sometimes cause a cramping, feel like a burning or stinging, or like a pinch. Others might experience a different sensation but these are things that I’ve encountered at one point.
If this is what you’re experiencing, take note as to where the cup is located when you start to feel it. Normally it’s when the rim of the cup is nearing the entrance to the vagina. Insert your thumb (which will be topside nearer to your bladder) and slightly press in the body of the cup in before continuing to remove it.
If this is not what you’re experiencing, please describe what and where you’re feeling the pain. I’ll have a better understanding and hopefully be able to suggest something that will help make removal less painful or better yet – pain-free!
