Very low (30mm) cervix options?
Ok, so I have a very low cervix (it’s about 30mm up) I want to use cups, but the smallest one I could find was the MeLuna shorty small, and even after stem removal it would still be 33mm, and extend out of my vagina.
Are there any cups that would work?
Are reusable discs a good option? I like the idea of nixit or lumma, but would they work with such a low cervix?
Thank you for reading and any feedback is helpful!
Hello There!
Even if you have a very low cervix, there’s space around it called the vaginal fornix which allows cups to snuggle in. If you measured your cervix to be 30mm, you might find that cups 40 – 45mm is still comfortable.
I would suggest sticking with bell-shaped cups and cups with a flared rim (normally they are found on bell-shaped cups). These tend to ride up into the vaginal fornix and sit higher, while the rounded base would be more comfortable than a “V”-shaped tapered base.
The Juju model 4 for low cervix, the Mermaid Cup “Guppy”, Merula Original, MyCup size 0 or 1, Ruby Cup Small, Sckoon Cup Small and XO Flo Mini are some cups that might interest you.
All of these cups except the small Ruby and Sckoon Cup have room to allow your cervix to sit inside of the cup without compromising all of the cup’s capacity.
Because Menstrual Discs are worn in a different position than a Menstrual Cup, it is said that cervical height doesn’t matter, but I’ve heard otherwise far too often.
From the information that I’ve gathered, people with a very low cervix find that the Lumma Unique’s small and/or medium size Menstrual disc “fits” well and is more comfortable. They usually have a buy 1, get 1 free deal so most people pick up both sizes.
Hope this helps.
Good Luck & Stay healthy!
