Trouble with understating sizing.
I have been using a menstrual cup for about 6 months and love the concept. Some periods are perfect and leak-free while others, unfortunately, have leakage. The cup is fully closed and never overfills. Do I have a size issue or what could be causing this problem?
Hello There!
The cervix moves throughout our cycle. Some notice it and others don’t. It’s at its lowest point right before our period and starts to move back up during the middle of our period to its highest point which is at the peak of ovulation. At that time, it can be out of reach or not even found.
This may be why your cup works perfectly sometimes, but not all the time.
Some people, like myself, will find having two sizes or shapes beneficial.
If you find that the cup is only 1/2 filled when you remove it (when you start leaking), your cervix can be dipping into the cup lowering the capacity. You might want to try a wider cup.
If you’re using a small, short, or bell-shaped cup with a flared rim and you have a high cervix, the cup could be moving higher letting the cervix sit deeper into it as well. Again, a wider cup or a longer cup might be a better option.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck <3
