Hello There,
First of all, NO one on this forum is a doctor (that I know of). This is a medical issue and I would suggest going in to see a professional.
However, there are some common issues that it could be. If these are the issues in your case, they will need the correct medication.
Stop using menstrual cups until the issue is cleared and make sure to boil the cup properly before using it again.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) – This is an imbalance of bacterial. We have good and bad bacteria in the vaginal canal to keep it clean and healthy. If there is an overgrowth of bad bacteria, it could cause swelling, itching, burning, and a fishy odor or discharge. A minor case would not need medication, but symptoms lasting more than a week will need medication. There are two different medications for this; pills taken by mouth, and a gel that is inserted into the vagina. A common problem with antibiotics is that some strains of BV have resistance to some antibiotics.
*You may want to inform your doctor that you have been using a menstrual cup and include all the symptoms that you’re experiencing. Also, let them know that the antibiotics did not seem to work and question about antibacterial medication.
Yeast Infection – This is an overgrowth of a specific type of fungal species. It’s very common and most menstruators get it at least once in their lifetime. It can cause swelling, burning, irritation, pain during urination, pain during intercourse or penetration, redness, and cottage cheese-like discharge. Yeast Infections can be treated with OTC (over the counter) medications, but if it lasts more than three days (and yours has) you should make an appointment to see a doctor.
*Again, you may want to inform your doctor that you have been using a menstrual cup and include all the symptoms that you’re experiencing. Also, let them know that the antibiotics did not seem to work and question about antifungal medication.
As for the leg pain, I don’t know what that can be but I do know that if the two common issues I list above are not treated, they can lead to other problems. So it’s best for you to see a doctor in person.
Best of luck and good health to you,
