Should i see a Doctor?
Im 22. First, my period is irregular and normally when I get one it is 4-5 days long and light. Second, my period started on may 6th and ended on may 17th, it was also alot heavier than usual. I had inter course with my partner today(may 20th) and i started bleeding again? I am not in any pain, but I do feel weaker and tired. Im scared because with covid-19 i dont know if i can make an appointment ? I dont know what to do. Ive never had a female role model to help me with anything so idk is this is normal…
Hello There,
Even if your period is ‘irregular’ in terms of the standard 7 days, it might be ‘regular’ for your body. As you mentioned, it’s ‘normally’ 4-5 days long. So that could be your norm, at least for now.
Various life events can cause a period to become shorter, longer, or even stop for a short amount of time including stress, medications, and diet. Typically, you’ll want to see a doctor if things persist longer than three months unless they get worse more quickly.
As for intercourse, it’s common to have some residual blood come out soon after your period. It could be bright red (newer blood) or almost brown (old blood).
If you’re concerned, you can always call a doctor and ask them if they think you should make an appointment. However, when I worked in an ob-gyn this didn’t constitute an emergency. I think you’ll be okay but I’m not a doctor so keep an eye on things.
Good luck & stay safe.
