Not sure of fit
I am 42 and just purchased an Eva Cup, size large (2) per the recommendationson the package. I have no idea if my cervix is long/short. It fits fine and I don’t feel it while I’m wearing it and it doesn’t leak. But…when I have to pee, I can’t, unless I remove it. What should I look for when choosing another size? Am I looking for something narrower? Or just altogether smaller?
Also, in regards to affecting cramping…it can be super uncomfortable when I am particularly crampy (first couple of days), though this could be because it’s too large.
Hi JKRose!
First of all, I’m happy to hear that you couldn’t feel the cup and that it didn’t give you any leaking problems. You’re halfway there!
I would try to stick to this approximate length and shape (“V” shape) if you plan on choosing another cup since you already know that it’s comfortable for you.
As for the cramping and having to remove the cup to urinate, you’ll probably want to look into a cup that’s softer or has a softer rim. The EvaCup sounds like it’s applying too much pressure either on your bladder or your urethra.
Before you run out an buy another cup, I would like to suggest turning your cup inside out. Please ONLY do this if you’re comfortable reaching and removing your cup without a stem.
This will shorten the cup a bit as well as make it slightly more narrow. This may take the extra pressure off of your sensitive areas.
If that works, you can continue using the EvaCup this way. There’s no harm in it and many people do the same.
If you don’t want to continue using this cup this way, but want to stick with the EvaCup, you can purchase the cup in the smaller size. Please be aware that you will lose some of the capacity and if you have a heavier flow, you may need to empty it more often.
If you’d rather try a cup in another brand altogether, I would suggest the Casco Cup.
This cup is slightly longer than the EvaCup but not by much and the stem can be trimmed if needed. It’s softer in both the body and in the rim but has a secondary rim that will still help with getting this cup to open.
This cup can be found under different names depending on your location. If there are more than one in your area/country, shop around for the best price 🙂
