Moon cup stem too long
This is my second cycle using the cup. The first one I thought I got the hang of it, but I’m 2 days in and had felt it a bit but thought nothing of it, just a mild discomfort, and I have a high pain threshold so maybe I should have investigated sooner. during removal tonight I felt the side of my vagina a little swollen, so decided I’d remove it and use a pad. I later decided to take a look with a mirror and was horrified that I’ve been given a visible sore on the side of my vagina. It doesn’t hurt an awful lot but feels swollen and looks a bit like a hemarroid (TMI, sorry) has this happened anyone else?! I’m I permanently scarred? I don’t want to go to the hospital inless I really have to? Has anyone else got badly irritated by the stem? Any suggestions on how to help this? Obviously I’m going to use pads for the rest of the cycle!
Oh no! That is definitely not supposed to happen at any time while using any menstrual cup. The only thing that I can think of is that the stem caused some irritation and caused the area to swell and/or creating something like a friction burn. Is it the stem that was a bit uncomfortable or was it the base of the cup? If it was the stem, you can trim it down a tad to see if it feels more comfortable. If not, trim a tad more and so on and so forth until it does AND that you can still reach it.
I’m sorry that I don’t have any quick fixes for you. I’ve had some cups chafe me but not this severely. I would be a be worrisome to suggest any type of ointment as it could enter the vagina and cause additional problems. I don’t think it’s anything to worry about yet, but I’m not a doctor. Keep an eye on it for the next couple of days and if it starts to get worse, make an appointment with yor GYN.
