I got the menstrual cup and I adore it… except on my heavy days, I tend to leak… I put it in as the directions say…
well, I decided to feel around and my cervix was SUPER high so I shoved her up there and it was great and now the next day, it’s leaking again.. I check again and my cervix is so far up and to the left, I’m note sure where to position my cup sideways? Or how to even make sure it’s suctioned okay or what’s the best method to even get it in that awkward position.
Our cervix isn’t straight up, it’s more toward our tailbone. When you insert your cup, make sure you’re aiming back to your tailbone. I think most of use have a cervix that’s positioned more to one side than the other. Some say that their cervix moves from left to right/right to left periodically.
The only suggestion I can give is to insert your cup and then feel around the rim (or as high up as you can) and check if you can feel any indentations. If this is, it’s possible that you pushed your cervix to the side. If this happens, pull/wiggle the cup down and allow your cervix to drop in. You can use a finger to press and maneuver your cup back up into place.
Not all cups will create a seal with YOUR body. I have some cups that do and others that don’t. Some times the one that doesn’t seal/suction for me, do for my friends and other people. However, you can check by giving the stem and/or base of the cup and gentle tug. If there’s any resistance, chances are you have a seal. If not, give the base a pinch and gently tug again.
Just because it doesn’t seal/suction, doesn’t mean the cup won’t work to collect your flow, but if your cup is sliding down you might want to look into a different cup or size.
