If i have high cervix, can i use regular cup?
My cervix is high, I’m 16 years old and my period is between nornal to heavy.
Can i use cups like Saalt and Lena even thouge my cervix is high?
And another question, does my cervix diameter matters? And if it does, how do I measure it? Can all the cups vacuum it? I swim 6 times a week if it matters…
Thanks!
Hello There!
You can use any cup that feels comfortable, and these may very well feel comfortable. However, with a high cervix, you might find yourself having to squat and push with your muscles to bring the cup lower/closer to the vaginal opening. You may even need to press your hand in a bit to be able to reach these two cups especially if you are using the small size.
Here’s more info about cup size/shape vs cervix height:
High or Low Cervix
Bell-shaped cups, especially those with a flared rim like the Lena Cup, tend to ride up and sit higher around the cervix. This can make a cup harder to reach and also allows the cervix to sit deeper into the cup taking up some of the capacity.
Cervix diameter is not taken into account when choosing a menstrual cup. So no need to measure.
Everyone is different and will have a different experience with any given cup. A cup that might create a tight seal for me, might not create a tight seal for the next person. However, after the cup is insert, you can check that it has created a seal by gently tugging on the stem (or cup base) to see if it moves easily. If there is any resistance, it likely created a seal. If it slides freely, it hasn’t. Give the base a couple of pinches or try rotating the cup to hopefully create one.
Good Luck <3
