Menstrual Cup Doesn’t open
Hi!
That’s my second cycle with a cup. On my first cycle everything went well, it popped open every time i haven’t had any leaks. I used the push down fold it worked great. However, I am currently on my period (second cup period) and it just doesn’t work. I had leaks every time. If I put up my finger I can feel it slightly that it’s not fully open. I’ve tried the c-fold, push down, different positions. But this time I just can’t make it open. Also I’m unable to twist it and if I pinch the base I risk it folding even more. Can you please help? I’m really concerned about it not working now but being perfect during my last period.
Hello There!
Our cervix moves throughout our cycle, including during menstruation. It may have been why the same positioning could have resulted in leaks.
Anyhow, here are a couple of tips that might help:
-Let the cup open in a lower position (insert cup 1/2 way). The cervix can often prevent the rim from expanding. Then use a single finger to push the cup into place.
-Insert the cup and then rock it side to side and down a bit to help the cervix and/or cup adjust, then use a single finger to push the cup back into place. *Twisting the cup has never worked for me.
-Insert the cup and use a single finger to press the body into the vaginal wall. Then slowly release the pressure and allow the cup to open against your finger. Sometimes a cup needs a little space to open in.
I hope that one of these tips helps. If not, please let me know and I’ll try to brainstorm with you some more.
Good Luck! <3
