CBD oil and Menopause
Menopause is really uncomfortable for women, and many times, they have to use multiple options in order to ensure that they are comfortable during this transition. CBD oil may have some of the answers for this – for example, it can help to reduce hot flashes, it can help with concentration, and it can even reduce chronic pain (I read an article about it). Could CBD be considered an option to help overcome menopause symptoms?
My mom entered menopause looking really healthy and young and I could see the frustration was wearing her down. She’d say that she was OK with losing her fertility but she was not ready to lose her cool and it would be ages before she would consider putting on her slippers to retire. Like most women, I wouldn’t want to go down without a fight either and would use anything as long as it made me feel more comfortable. Sometime last year I saw Jennifer Aniston comment on Evolution CBD saying that she wished more people knew about it and its benefits. Jen has continued to stay in shape and it is impressive that she has maintained that relaxed vibe even as she gets into her 50s.
Of course, mainstream medicine has a lot of options for menopausal women including different types of hormone therapy, acupuncture, and other prescription and non-prescription therapies. What is obvious about nearly all of these options is that they all have side effects and varying levels of effectiveness. Even more natural options will have you struggling with nausea, headache and diarrhea, all of which do anything but keep you comfortable. CBD is different and having used it for my skincare routine and to relieve anxiety, I have nothing but praise especially since I have not noticed any pronounced side effects.
The uses of CBD range from helping in managing anxiety and stress, to reducing inflammation, insomnia, and dealing with dry skin. These issues form a majority of the symptoms we see in menopausal women and it makes sense to treat these symptoms in the same way. Menopause affects people differently but usually with the same symptoms. A menopausal woman may have to deal with either inflammation, anxiety, depression, or sleep disruptions among other symptoms. These symptoms appear in other conditions and have in the past been met by the effectiveness of CBD.
I think @Red_Herring is talking about water soluble CBD products, and those can be added to a drink. I’ve tried those too and like Red Herring said, it all depends on the product because they’re all different!
I have seen several CBD products that claim to help with menstrual symptoms and/or menopause and have read and spoken to a few people who swear it helps. However, we are all different and may have varying experiences with a particular mix or brand.
Personally, I’ve tried a few different brands (not specifically for menopause but other ailments) and they affect me differently. I also have to start off with a lower dosage than what’s recommeneded and wait a few minutes to see if it’s enough or not. Some of the oils that I’ve tried were too strong for me and my travel anxiety was then replaced by a “too much CBD oil” anxiety :O
I would seek the advice of a physican (even if just a phone call) to see what they recommend.
On a side note, I saw a couple of companies that offer a premixed bottle for specific ailments. No guessing, no measuring. The full bottle can be added to a drink.
If you end up trying some CBD oil, I would love to hear your experience with it.
