Can’t find the right cup
Hello, I’m 36 and I’ve had 3 vaginal births, I’ve tried several cups over the last year and a half, the Lena, Lunette, and Intimina. I have a high cervix with a tilted uterus (cervix). I’ve really gotten to know my body well and realize that I can not get these cups around my cervix. I really don’t want to give up, but I’m super frustrated with the leaks, my pad will be full and there will be nothing in my cup, but when I put it in just right, it works great! I also have very heavy periods my first two days, but the last 2 are always super light. Which cup(s) do you recommend for someone like me?
Hi Kay!
It sounds like you might be pushing your cervix to the side. Do you normally check the position or your cup after you’ve inserted it?
After you insert the cup, use a finger to swipe the rim (or as far up as you can) to feel if there’s any indentations. If there are, it’s a sign that the rim of the cup may have gotten held back from opening completely.
Gently wiggle or rock the cup back and forth moving it down a bit so that your cervix can drop into place.
You can see an example here: https://youtu.be/o2YtfxUMeV4?t=4m7s
I’ve fast forward the time stamp to begin at that specific tip.
Hopefully this will do the trick to stop your leaking issues 🙁
If this doesn’t solve your problem, you might want to look into a longer “bell”-shaped cup (perhaps without a flared rim) with a higher capacity like the LaliCup large.
- Longer – length for ease of reach for high cervix
- Bell-shaped for higher capacity or to accommodate a cervix that dips into the cup
- “Regular” rim – (hopefully) doesn’t allow the cup to ride up and sit higher than cups that have a flared rim
Good Luck <3
