Can only get cup in so much
Hi,
I’ve tried different insertion methods but the only one I can use so far without pain is the punchdown fold. However once partially inserted I can’t get it in any further as the fold creates almost a corner where you hold it which is painful to insert so I can’t get it in any further and it feels like it’s at an angle. I’m using the saalt soft small so it shouldn’t be an issue of softness.
I’m not sure if there are any more folds I could try that are small but dont have the corner or if I’m not inserting at the right angle. I also need the fold to be easy to hold which is an issue as I have arthritis in my hand so can’t grip the cup strongly
Hello There!
I understand what you mean by ‘corner’. I have this issue with some firm cups causing irritation, as well. Have you tried the “labia” fold? It’s a little difficult at first but once you get the pattern it might be easier and more comfortable to insert and get open. There is an alternative folding method shown in the video (link below). Hopefully one of them won’t be an issue for your arthritis.
This fold keeps the body tucked in as to not create an corner, and doesn’t sit the rim down into the cup which can make it easier to open.
Our cervix isn’t typically located straight up. Inserting it as such can cause the cervix to block the rim from expanding and push it to the side.
From a squatting position, make sure to aim the cup down and back towards your tailbone. It’s the easiest position to be in when learning to insert and remove the cup. Once you are comfortable with the target location, you can change to a different stance if you wish.
I hope this helps 🙂
Good Luck! <3
