Hello, my name is Olivia. I’m 15, and started using a menstrual cup 2 months ago. I went with the AllMatters mini, (organicup) and had a lot of problems. I have a very low cervix, and the cup fit fine once I took off the stem. I knew it was open all the way, but I was having to wear cloth pads because I was leaking a lot. I thought it might be residual blood, but it would go on all day, even though I hadn’t changed my cup. Now, I have the Cotton Mermaid Guppy large, and it works amazing! So, is it possible that my organicup was too small? Or, is there a good explanation for the leakage?
It’s a common misconception that because someone has a low cervix they have to use the smallest cup. In actuality, it can be the main cause of leaking.
There are a couple of reasons why small cups aren’t always the answer.
1. The cups’ small diameter can make it hard for the cervix to be positioned correctly.
2. The cervix can sit inside of the cup and displace the already low capacity.
Both can result in overflow leaking.
Instead, a wider cup (like the Mermaid Guppy) can accommodate the cervix comfortably while still providing some space for the menstrual flow.
I’m happy to hear that you were able to find something that works for you!
Good Luck <3
