Burning Sensation
Hi, My daughter is 15 yrs. old and is trying the cup – she has practiced before her period and was able to insert without any issues. She just got her period and now is having a burning sensation when she inserts it and when she urinates – is this normal?
I have a similar situation. I have “Organic cup” and it has two prominent manufacturing lines that go through the whole cup. When I insert or remove it, I have a burning sensation and I blame that. Once it is in there I don’t feel it, but sometimes, it makes me want to go to pee even though I didn’t need it. That is why I bought the monthly cup mini, it has less diameter. I hope this one will work for me :3.
Hello!
First of all, thank you for giving your daughter the option of using a cup. Not all parents are comfortable with the concept…not all adults are either whether their parents or not.
Also thank you for having her practice using the cup before her period started. Although things don’t always go the same, it still gives her an idea of what should happen and what it might feel like.
With that being said, some individuals may experience sensitivity in the area when they might not otherwise. Bloating may be a factor in this extra pressure. While bloating is normal, using a cup should never be uncomfortable, hurt, or cause bladder or bowel issues.
A softer and/or narrower cup might be more comfortable and apply less pressure.
If you share what cup she’s using, I might be able to suggest some softer and/or narrower cups that would be comparable.
Until then, stay safe and good luck,
