The Monthly Cup is a menstrual cup that is manufactured in Sweden. It is made of silicone and comes in 3 different sizes/models:
Introduction
The MonthlyCup first launched its first two sizes in July of 2015. Two years later in July of 2017, they added a mini size to their line up. Although the MonthlyCup is proudly made in Sweden and can be found in specific supermarkets there, they are also registered with the FDA and can be sold legally to the USA. A single cup runs $23 but they also offer two and three cup starter kits that include cleaning items. Kits may not be available for shipping in all countries.

Who is it Meant For?
The Mini size MonthlyCup is specially made for users who are in their first years of menstruation. It is one of the smallest cups on the market and is also a little softer and narrower.
This size might be a good option for those with a low cervix and light flow or for those who are uncomfortable inserting a wider cup.
As a user with a medium to a high cervix, I still found this cup easy to use, comfortable to wear, and fairly easy to remove. There were a couple of times that I needed to bear down to reach it. However, I prefer the two larger sizes for easier reach and more capacity.
Special Features
Capacity – The Mini MonthlyCup holds 15 ml to the air holes and 20 ml to the rim.
Body – The MonthlyCup is “V”-shaped. Although this shape is normally longer than a bell-shaped cup, being that it was designed for users in the early years of menstruation, it is on the shorter side and therefore may still be a good option for individuals with a medium to a low cervix.
Stem – This cup has a solid ball stem. However, unlike other cups with a ball stem, the MonthlyCup has a very short and solid piece of silicone that connects the ball to the base of the cup.
Rim – The upper rim is a thick ring around the opening of the cup. This gives the top portion firmness to help it open easily.
Secondary Rim – The secondary rim adds a little firmness to the upper portion of the cup to help it open, as well as smooth the transition between the body and upper rim of the cup.
Grip Rings – There are three grip rings at the base of the cup, and two rings on the stem before the ball tip end.
Silicone Quality – The MonthlyCup is 100% Vegan, and approved by Animal Rights Sweden. In my opinion, the silicone quality of these cups is excellent and should last many years of use.
Firmness – The body of the MonthlyCup is considered to be a soft cup, but the rim is slightly firmer for easy opening. The Mini size MonthlyCup is overall slightly softer than a medium firmness.
Air Holes – There are four large, equidistant air holes located just under the top rim and on the secondary rim.
Seams – There is one flash line located on the side of the upper rim just as it rounds over. It is slightly visible but can hardly be felt with a fingertip.
Markings – The only marking on this cup is on the inside and displays their website: www.monthlycup.com.

The creators of the MonthlyCup state that this size is suitable for most users. If you’re unsure of which cup to start with, this is a good option. It is also meant for users with light to normal flow.
The Normal size is a little longer and may allow for an easier reach for users with a medium to high cervix. However, this cup is still on the narrower side and maybe comfortable for those who are uncomfortable inserting a wider cup.
As a user with a medium to a high cervix, this cup was easy to open, comfortable to wear, and easy to remove. I found that it was suitable for days when my flow was light to moderate.

The creators of the MonthlyCup state that this size is for users who have a heavy to very heavy flow. I would also suggest this size for individuals who have a medium to a high cervix for easy reach.
The Normal and Plus size MonthlyCups are the same lengths. However, the Plus size has a little wider diameter at 47 mm to the Normal sizes’ 43 mm. If you’re comfortable using and wearing a wider cup and need the extra capacity, this would be the better option.
As a user with a medium to a high cervix, this cup was easy to open, comfortable to wear, and easy to remove. I found that it was suitable for days when my flow was moderate to heavy.

The instructions through the MonthlyCup website are very simplistic, but includes some illustrations on how to clean, and insert the cup. However, the user pamphlet that accompanies each cup is more detailed.

Where to Buy the MonthlyCup?
Alternatives to MonthlyCup
Venus Cup – The Venus Cup small holds slightly more than the Normal-sized MonthlyCup, and the large holds 47 ml to MonthlyCup’s 39 ml. In comparison, the large in both cups are the same diameter. Although the Venus Cup is 71 mm in total length (MonthlyCup is 65), the stem can be trimmed down to give them a 1 mm difference in body length. This means the Venus Cup holds 8 ml more without adding an extreme length or diameter over the MonthlyCup.
EvaCup – If you find that the upper rim is too firm, The EvaCup is a softer option. The small and large EvaCup has similar measurements compared to the Normal & Plus size MonthlyCups.
MeLuna – If you need something shorter and more comparable to the Mini MonthlyCup, the MeLuna Shorty cups might be what you’re searching for. These cups are specifically designed for users with a low to a very low cervix. There are three sizes and three firmness levels (some firmness levels may not be available in your country).
Summary
Due to its soft body and decently firm upper and secondary rim, the MonthlyCup has been comfortable and easy to use by many individuals. Having three size options allows you to choose the length and diameter that might be right for you. Although I wouldn’t necessarily suggest these cups for someone with a very low cervix, depending on how low it is, the Mini might still be a good option. However, if you have a medium to a high cervix, the Normal and the Plus sizes should fit fine. These cups are affordably priced and are offered in starter kits with two or three cups and include cleaning accessories as well.
