The MeLuna cup is available in 3 degrees of firmness for this very reason.
MeLuna Classic
(recommended for most women):
The MeLuna Classic offers a level of firmness that is equal in comparison to many silicon-based menstrual cups. MeLuna Sport
(for women who are active in sports and physical activities):
The MeLuna Sport is the absolute firmest of all MeLuna menstrual cups. It is ideal for women who are highly physical active and for women who participate in many sports activities. This firmness offers a better suction, for when the muscles are contracting and moving so that the cup holds in place to provide ultimate protection, and the best fit for comfort.

(for women who can use the softer menstrual cups):
Some vendors do not offer this firmness option. However, the MeLuna Soft is the softest cup available from MeLuna. 3. MeLuna Cup Handle/Grip Options
Stem:
The stem is shaped like a long point or stem and is ideal for women who have a long or high cervix that is up-seated in their vaginal canal. This stem allows for a better grip instead of fetching the cup out and having to spend excess time grasping it to remove it properly.

Smelled off when I first got it. I threw it in the dishwasher before first use and it still smelled a little weird, so I boiled it for about 10 minutes. Still smelled weird. I left it alone and hoped it would air out before I had to use it. It didn’t. Used it for 3 days of my period and it threw my body chemistry off so bad it took me a week to get back to normal vaginal oders again. At first I thought this might be to other reasons, but low and behold as soon as I used it again on my next period within 4 hours it had me smelling horrible. Didn’t use it again the next day and I was fine. Used it again the day after, horrible. The design is great, but whatever this different material is, while it may not be actively harmful (I trust the pre-trump EPA to tell the truth about these things), it is not good for my body. Yours may be different. The choice is yours, but be informed.
KristenH, it was actually under OBAMA that the FDA, not EPA gave the ok for them to be sold here. Also they are made in Germany. The complaint of the smell has been around with these cups for years now.
Take your uninformed liberal hate somewhere else.
Bless you T.J and PLEASE
She was saying that’s why she believes that they were actually telling the truth about it being safe. BECAUSE it WAS under Obama. Also she said this cup in particular made her smell bad, not just that the cup smelled bad. Take your guilt induced republican drama elsewhere
She trusted Obama era to tell her it was safe, YET it still smelled bad and made her snatch stink. AND they are still made in Germany. Trump had nothing to do with this snowflake. You and her can make it as political as you want, but it’s eventually going to be BECAUSE of Trumps policies that will soon make these reusable products more affordable to women, which will mean less waste. Why the hell do you think these products are so pricey now? Taxes, unnecessary regulations, and unfair international trading practices.
My very first cup was the meluna in 2013.. I got the medium and large with the rings. The rings are fantastic. They are so wonderful. I found my cups stain only when they are inside me, whether menstruating or not. I am not sure if they are made properly. Once my period is over the stain mysteriously vanishes.
They hold well. I found I leaked a whole lot with them but I generally liked these cups. I used them for about 1 1/2 years and found they are too thin and unable now to have any grip..material has thinned
Me Luna is the first and only menstrual cup I’ve ever used. I bought mine in February of 2015, so it will be two years of use for me soon. Since I got the cup, I haven’t used a single pad/tampon for my period, and have never had a problem with leaking or anything else. I got the Sport version, the hardest one (I have very strong pelvic floor muscles), in size M, and, oh my God, I love it! My life has changed completely since I’ve started using it. My relationship with my cycle is totally different now, I actually enjoy my periods 😀
As far as the use of the cup goes, the first cycle was a little rocky, in a sense that it took me 2-3 days to learn how to insert and remove it properly and quickly. I boil mine once a month, haven’t had issues with odors so far, the cup has become slightly discolored on the inside, but it’s very minor discoloration, and I am completely OK with it, doesn’t bother me at all.
Overall, I think Me Luna is an amazing, affordable and great quality cup brand, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone 🙂
I love my me luna shorty! I had trachelechtemy (ugh) surgery to remove cervical cancer (successful!) and my diva cup didn’t fit my new inner body after the surgery- waaaay to big. And tampons aren’t an option any more because my new vag is very short and they just pop out (gross). So I thought I was doomed to pads forever until I found me luna shorty. It fits great and seals great and holds all my moon flow and I am so happy about that. I feel like myself again!!
I’ve used this now for two nights only, I find it easy to insert, no pain and I feel like I’m covered, I had a Busy day today so used my regular brand of tampons and I’ve had stomach cramps all day! I find with this I don’t get cramps at all, I would recommend using one of these, once you start you’ll wonder why you didn’t use one sooner 🙂
Bought 2 cups and am extremely disappointed. You can’t get the darn thing out!! After spending 20 minutes or more, red-faced and sweating, bearing down trying to grasp the cup without pinching or scratching your insides which you end up doing…..not a good product for me. Now i’m out money and will go back to using tampons….at least those come with a string for easy removal.
Oh my, for me it’s just the contrary. It slips out all the time no matter hiw high I put it. And as it slips out, it leaks of course.
you need a bigger cup. you should be able to grab the bottom tab no problem. if its getting lost, it’s too small!
Maybe you inserted it to far? Which end did you go for, I find the ring is very easy to use and I have super long nails X
I bought the Meluna cup large sport. It’s surprisingly comfortable considering the stiffness, which is similar to the rubber keeper cup. The only drawback is it just feels cheap. It’s made from a distinctly different material then the standard silicone, and reminds me of something that might dry up and crack after a few uses. We’ll see.
I love MeLuna! I actually have three cups. My first one was a small shorty, this one is fantastic for light flow/spotting days. My second one was a medium regular size and while it works wonderfully for me was a tad long. And this one, my third one, it the large shorty. The shorty is a great length. Each cup is great in ways of quality and size. One of the things I love most about this cup is the amount of options you have. I’ve used a Lunette before but the only options I had when ordering was 2 different sizes and a handful of colors, there wasn’t an option for length. While that cup is also of good quality and still used from time to time MeLuna is the one I go to first and always make sure I have one when traveling. Whenever somebody asks me what I use I always tell them of MeLuna.
I am only 14. But I absolutely hated getting my period. I have fairly heavy periods that last a whole week. I read about menstral cups online and tried the Lena small cup first. I am a pretty small person. (5’2 104 pounds) The Lena was waaay too large. I couldn’t even insert it. I was distraught. Scouring the internet, I read about the MeLuna mini (actually called the shorty). I ordered the smallest possible cup- the shorty small. It worked. It took me a couple days to master insertion and removal, but now, I would just like to express my wholehearted gratitude. Thank you for making periods manageable for me, and especially for creating the shorty size.
I purchased a medium, shorty, sport(firmest one) with the ring handle & love it! The firmer material pops open & locks into place like it knows what it’s doing! The ring is very easy to grasp & remove. Once inserted & the residual spotting is done (I seldom catch my period Before I’m a mess) it is very leakproof & I am Active. I have a physical job, lift weights & regardless of how I’m moving I feel very secure. The Only downside is I do notice my cramps are more painful that first day with the firm cup, so I will use a softer one for that day then switch to my meluna cup for the test of my cycle. The period game is Changed!
