I’ve been using menstrual cups since 2011 and it’s my first time to try meLuna cup. I have tried four different brands and wanted to try this brand for the pros I mentioned. But it keeps leaking for the reason I figured. It is difficult to use reliably. I am sad to admit that I can use this cup only when I have a fewer flows and stay at home. I won’t buy again.
Meluna soft L is my first. And I will not bother trying any other brands. I’m an experienced ultra tampon user. This meluna I bought it because there’s not much choices in my country and I happened to see one website selling it without shipping cost. At first I didnt know MEDIUM FIRMNESS= CLASSIC. I asked my husband to get me a medium but he cant find the word Medium. So he got me a soft L. Anyway the first day it took me 4-5 times to open it up. Maybe I should get a smaller size. But on the second day I learned the technique and now i can pop it open straight away. I insert like 40% in then try to pop it open fully before pushing it in 100%. I got the ring stem. Doesn’t feel anything at all. I think I learn fast due to I have been using OB tampons (which has no applicator) since 18 yrs old and I know my vagina. Now I’m waiting my orders of M and L classic. Cant wait to try! Probably get another soft and sport!
Oh yea even from the first day first time I tried it on with my soft, i NEVER LEAK. Yay! And since I know my vagina, when I remove it, it NEVER spill. Coz when it is about to be 100% out, I tilt it horizontally.
I will stick to this brand coz I love it. Wont bother to try out any other brands. I’m glad I found THE ONE on my first try!!
I personally love mine. I got the 2-pack in the beginning so I could try different sizes and shapes. I got the Med. and Large, with the ring and the ball stems. I love the ring, but find the ball difficult to reach if it’s up farther towards my cervix. Solved the problem by tying a little bit of fishing line around the ball so I could pull it down a little before releasing function and pulling out with my fingers. It’s a little like tampon strings but I don’t even notice it’s there most of the time.
I bought the large sport size with the ring grip.
I bought this cup at the same time as an Evacup because I wanted to experiment and find a good match. I had already been using the Divacup for a month or two, so I at least knew the understood how they work. That being said, it’s nearly a year later and I’m still using the Evacup and this one is a backup in my purse. I knew right off the bat that this one was not going to be used much.
First off, the sizing is all wrong. I spent days comparing all the cups and their sizes. This one was supposed to be similar in size to the Evacup. It’s not. You can tell by looking at the two in person that they have a very different size. This one is actually about 0.5 oz. smaller than the Divacup, and it’s the large! I am a borderline heavy bleeder and I would have to empty it at least 5 times a day.
The second issue I have with it is that is it very rigid. Now, I thought that this might make it easier for me to get it open. Not so. It’s no easier to open than either of the other two, at least for me. The biggest thing is that it’s so rigid that I can actually feel it throughout the day and I suspect it makes my cramping worse as well. And yes, this is with it in the proper position. I have used this multiple times and I always wind up taking it out to switch for the Evacup.
Thirdly, I did contact the company as soon as I opened the main packaging (not the cup box) and their response was barely of any help. They claimed that the cup was in fact the large and that it is supposed to hold a certain amount (it doesn’t) and that I could return it if I paid the return shipping. Needless to say, I’m not going to spend yet another possible $10 for a return to a company that I don’t really know and has already not been truthful to me. Besides, I figured there was a good chance that I’d never get a refund or anything. They didn’t really seem to care at all.
All in all it’s too bad that it didn’t work out. I chose to have the ring on the end instead of just the little ball and I love that feature, it makes it easier to grip, but the overall function isn’t worth it. I will not be buying from or recommending this company again.
I am 25, 161cm, 57kg, no births, slender and moderately active (exercise 2-3 times every week) – I chose MeLuna M Sport. I had some major issues with my Lunette, in that every time I lay down on the sofa or slept I would get some considerable leaking. After doing a bit of research I realised that, although I’m no athlete, my pelvic floor was still strong enough to crush the softer Lunette. Since switching to the Sport, I find that the cup opens much more easily, is just as comfortable and, most importantly, has stopped leaking. My only minor reservations are the tiny holes and the lack of colour options for the Sport range, but given that some cups offer you no colour selection at all maybe that’s being fussy.
I tried the meluna xl soft basic cup, and absolutely had the most difficult time getting it open. I finally managed to do so, but it’s definitely NOT something I want to have to combat every time I empty and reinsert my cup. It was very comfortable, but unless a woman’s had a bunch of kids and has loose vaginal walls that flap in the wind, I suggest giving this cup a pass.
I finally managed to get the meluna xl soft to open. But I had to practically invent my own fold. I used something similar to a seven fold, except a weak, incomplete version of it. Basically I had to fold the edge over just a bit with only a small corner folded over. The rest of the cup just kind of folds further as I put it in, and tends to open up after that, though still with some coaxing.
I love this cup. First it was a love hate relationship, but after a few YouTube videos, I got the perfect way to insert and take out. No leaks, and I am looking forward to my next period! I have another brand cup as well, but this Luna cup, is much better.
Switched to this cup from a size 2 Fleurcup. This is the third menstrual cup I’ve owned over the years. I’m not sure if it’s due to the different material but I had some trouble getting this cup open compared to the two silicone cups I’ve used (Fleurcup and Lunette – both were the larger sizes). Dry runs have never worked for me with the MeLuna classic (Medium size) which is a shame since it’s nice to be able to put the cup in before the period starts. Other than that I like the different colors and the type of stem has never been a concern because I have had to wear menstrual cups inside out so that they’ll fit. Still haven’t found the perfect cup but this is the closest.
I used it for a few months, beside a few minimal leaks and sometimes a bit of difficulties in getting it out, it worked great. Sad thing is company confirmed a few years ago that the product is tested on animals. I could be great to have this kind of info in this site’s reviews.
I’m wondering how they are testing their cups on animals considering that mammals have estrus cycles not menstrual cycles. Either way that’s a shame.
I’ve been using menstrual cups for 20 years. This is the third type I’ve tried and the worst. I tried multiple times to insert it and never got it to open. Waste of $25.
