Lunapads have two parts: a pad base with wings that fastens around the underwear and a removable insert made from absorbent fleece. The Pad Base is designed to be leak-resistant. Lunapads recommends that users keep the Pad Base in place all day and then change out the insert as needed. In fact, this is given as one of the main factors that makes Lunapads different from other cloth pad brands. With most other brands, you have to change out both the base and the inserts.
Changing all of that would require you to carry more with you, to do more laundry and to potentially have to purchase more items. With Lunapads, you just wear the one base all day and adjust the absorption levels with the removable inserts.
Lunapads are available in mini, maxi, long, overnight and postpartum sizes. In addition to the Pad Style Lunapads, they also produce pantyliners that can be worn for daily use or as a backup for tampons or menstrual cups. They’re available in styles including Thong, Teeny, Mini and Long. Keep in mind that the panty liners do not have a leak-resistant core like their Pad Style products.

Benefits & Positive Feedbacks:
These are AWESOME. Every woman should know about them and use them. I would NEVER go back to disposables after using these! So much better for your body, and the environment, AND your pocketbook. They work great and wash out nicely too. BRAVO!!!!!!! Will definitely be telling my friends and sisters about them!”
Most customers had good things to say. The most complaints we’ve seen is from customers who didn’t receive the pads in the color of their choice, which Lunapads has stated was an issue with Amazon fulfillment. Other customers reported that they used to always get rashes when they used disposables, especially the ones with fragrances. Now they feel drier and cleaner, and there’s no unpleasant scratching from plastic against the skin.
Saving money in the long run is another frequently cited plus.
Downsides & Negative Feedbacks:
Not ideal to wear during exercise because they may shift around. One customer, in particular, mentioned having a problem during yoga class.

They have ok products. “Performa” products are good, but not leakproof. They are advertised as “4X as absorbent as a disposable pad” on their website but they were overflowed within 2 hours on the second day of my period. The ones that have inserts are really bad. They have pilings after the first wash before I even use them. Overall, their products don’t worth their very expensive price.
Their customer service is another story. Even though their products’ performance is ok, I like to support a small zero-waste company, so I purchased from them again. But this time, Canada Post lost my package, and that is when I experienced how incompetent their customer service is. I understand they are a small company, but that doesn’t mean I have to do their job. Long story short, during more than a month of “trying to find your package,” I have always been the one remembering the deadline that they should contact Canda Post or CP were going to give us an update, and following up with them about any update from CP. It is always I ask them, then they will take action. For example, I asked them if there were any update from CP, then they would be “I just called them…”; or 2 days after CP supposed to give them a final response about the solution of the lost package, I emailed them about any update and resending my package (It had already been a month and a week). No update and ignoring my request, they didn’t even contact CP about the package. If I didn’t remind them, it probably will never occur to them to contact CP for another month. I was dragged into this whole hassle of reminding them by the deadline to do their job while hearing several excuses to push for the redelivery of my package or refund.
While I love the overall idea of the product (no more single-use items to keep you safe during your periods), the product itself is falling short of my expectations. Especially on day 2 of my period (when it’s the strongest) during the night, they’re not “leakproof” at all. And yes, I ordered the recommended size (it’s not like size charts are rocket science).
The problem is that sometimes the back of the pads shifts when you move (even with regular movements during the day, not just exercise), so you often need to double-check that they’re still in place. At night, obviously, that’s not an option, so you find out in the morning…
I have health issues, so finding organic cotton was top priority for me. I’m post-menopausal and needed something to absorb leaking urine &/or sweat during the night, which would soak my panties. I love these pads! I use the mini. They stay in place, they are soft, absorbent, there’s no smell! It gave me back confidence to be around people! I love the fabrics. They are easy to wash. I read some of the other reviews. I was surprised! I’ve washed mine over and over and they are as good as new. I’ve had them for over a year. I use Norwex laundry detergent (no fillers, no chemicals, no residue to leave behind on the soft organic material) AND I don’t dry them in the dryer… I just hand them on a wooden clothes rack with most of the rest of my laundry. Clothes last so much longer if you just take care of them. Enjoy!
I am a big fan of Lunapads. I tried a few different types of pads and especially like the design and comfort of these ones. I like how you can keep the same pad, but change out the liner throughout the day.
Customer Service is absolutely horrid.
They worked as advertised, but the fleece material shed little fabric particles that stuck all over skins already damp from period flow (even after multiple washes), so I will be looking for another brand.
I started using Luna Pads a little over a year ago. I was using disposable with constant allergic reactions. I tried about every brand disposable trying to avoid using reusable. The thought of reusable was not appealing to me at all. However, I eventually decided I had no choice. I researched many brands of reusable pads. The first month using Luna Pads and I was hooked. I would not go back to disposable even if could. I love Luna Pads. They are so much more absorbent than disposable pads. I always leaked at least once a month with disposable especially at nights. Since using Luna Pads over a year now and I have never leaked. They are so soft and comfortable. I highly recommend Luna Pads.
Lunapads are a very well-made, reliable product. They do what they say they will do, and they last for years. Anytime I’ve needed assistance with my purchase, I have never had anything but the most excellent customer service from their representatives: quick, thorough responses and clear explanations. More than anything, I value the fact that they have been around for so long and have stuck to their feminist principles the entire time – that’s more than you can say for some other reusable companies!
Feminist principles?? Well, that’s one company that won’t be getting my $$
Then again, what reusable menstrual company ISN’T feminist.
No.
These are my favorite pads on the market. I love them for so many reasons! No. 1 the insert model makes them super comfortable and easy to use outside of home. I can only change the insert, and then wash or store the used ones, instead of the whole pad. No.2 They are super cute!!! No. 3 They come also in organic cotton, which means a lot to me. No.4 they are not bulky, and I can wear them with my favorite jeans and pants during my period. And I just simply love all the different sizes, designs, products, etc… I honestly don’t think I could switch anymore, I really love the insert option!
