SckoonCup ® Review – Is it a Winner or Loser?

This page is available in:

It is hard to believe that the menstrual cup has been around for nearly a century, and is now just beginning to get the recognition it deserves. Menstrual cups provide more benefits than other feminine hygiene options on the market right now. Not only are menstrual cups easier to use, environmentally sound, and a much cheaper alternative to other disposable menstrual-care products- they are safer, more comfortable, less time constraining, and way-less burdensome than anything else that exists to serve the same purpose.

The SckoonCup is one of the first menstrual cups to be manufactured when the revolution of the menstrual cup began, and now it is still contending in the top 10 of hundreds of menstrual cup brands available on the market. The SckoonCup is manufactured in the US and made from medical-grade silicone and is still flourishing on the market as more and more women find this menstrual cup to be exceptional.

Sckoon Cup Stand-Out Features

The SckoonCup daunts many features that make it stand far above even the stiffest competitors like the Divacup, Iris Cup, Mooncup, and Femmecup.

  • Unlike other menstrual cups, the SckoonCup is faceted in a single piece so that it has the smoothest finish possible which makes it easy to clean, wear, and use.
  • It is much “squishier” in form than other menstrual cups that are made out of medical-grade silicone. This makes for a simpler experience with removing it and inserting it properly for the best fit.
  • The suction holes on the rim of the SckoonCup are angled towards the rim. This allows the SckoonCup to supply the highest potential capacity and leakage protection with its flawless sealed suction.
  • The SckoonCup does not contain the common outer bumps on the curve of its shape, instead it has a silky-smooth texture that allows it to be more comfortably worn without notice.

SckoonCup Pros

As previously mentioned the SckoonCup boasts some top-notch characteristics which make it stand-out in a market saturated with like products. It appears through deep investigation that consumers from all over the world have found a great menstrual cup in the Sckoon as it is commonly rated with a perfect 5 stars every time.

Suction holes really do not get clogged– this makes it much easier to clean and maintain for long periods of time.
Seamless so it is way better than any other menstrual cups which are more ridged and abrasive– this makes it much more comfortable to wear overall.
Does not leak and opens in a snap when removed– consumers think that the SckoonCup is super easy to use, because the cup opens very quickly once inserted properly to provide the best protection possible.
The Sckoon pouch and colors are always highly-praised– In many reviews I perused buyers of the SckoonCup remarked on the cute “bohemian” patterns on the cloth pouch. Additionally, consumers also stated that the colors of the SckoonCup were very aesthetically pleasing and bright.
Squishy and soft for c-folding insert– yet firm enough to pop open so the suction forms a leak-proof seal. Users report that other menstrual cups are difficult to fold in comparison to the Sckoon cup which is easily folded into a C-fold instead of an E-fold.
Not even noticeable when worn correctly and chosen in the ideal size– Many, many customers of the SckoonCup stated that they could not even feel the cup when they were wearing it- some even often forget when they wear it, it is so un-noticeable.

SckoonCup Cons

There were very little negative reviews put online when looking in regards to the quality, performance, effectiveness, comfort, and experience with the Sckoon cup. However some common but rare complaints that the SckoonCup received from new consumers- which can be remedied with a few solutions are listed below:

May be uncomfortable in the small size for women who have never given birth vaginally– Usually discomfort reported from the first use of a menstrual cup may be related to either a first-timers wrong choice in size or improper insertion position.
Does not open up properly and it leaks– Again this is a common complaint that is given to all types, brands, sizes, and models of menstrual cups. Typically when a menstrual cup does not open up all the way, leaks can be expected as a result. If you cannot get the cup to spring open perhaps it is the wrong size, model, or just need to practice and be patient a little while so you can find the best technique.

Suuuuper awesome! First time buying one (decided to go expensive just in case), as I’m 90% pad/10% tampon chick. I dislike tampons because of that nasty feeling when you insert/remove them. But pads are soooooo tedious and bulky, not to mention numerous… So I tried this cup. Ammaaaaaazing!!! I had no leakage at all. At first I wore liners just in case, but still nothing. During my heavier days, still impressive, but just a teeny bit of leakage after putting it in. I’m unsure if I’m just inserting it incorrectly, or if it’s just the excess “liquid” that’s impossible to remove before you pop it in – not like you can flush it out. This cup is very soft, and I wouldn’t even notice it was there if it wasn’t for the long stem which sticks out (a bit too much). Overall, super great product. Easy to clean. 100% recommend.

    + PROS: Smooth, one piece
    - CONS: Long stem

This was my first menstrual cup. I am a 33 year old mother of 5 children who was looking for an alternative since I can no longer where tampons effectively. This worked great for 5 cycles. It was a learning curve but I expected that. What I did NOT expect was part way through my 6th cycle (so much for years of use!) the SckoonCup cracked where the finger grips are along the mold line. To add insult to injury, when I left a review on Amazon, the company was incredibly condescending and explained to me that the menstrual cup could be used without a stem, completely ignoring where I actually said the product broke. SO DISGUSTED!! When I corrected them, I received no further responses. This cup is very soft silicone, and I believe it is the cup’s undoing quality wise.

Love this sckoon cup!!! I’ve had many different other cups and this one is the most comfortable and softest. I’d recommend to anyone.i have the size 1 and it fits perfectly and doesn’t leak. I’d try the pads and write reviews but I find them a bit too pricy.

Very comfortable cup. My cervix sits high, so this cup was high up when I tried to remove it. The stem is of no value and it is actually better if you don’t use it to try and pull this cup out. One time of it stretching and snapping out of your fingers and you’ll know why. This is one of the few cups I don’t need to remove the stem. Removing cups has never been a problem, for me, but this cup can definitely sit high,

    Pterri,
I’m sorry you had trouble with the Sckoon Cup. Since you have a low cervix, I would recommend that you try the FemmyCycle Low Cervix cup or Me Luna Shorty S.

I bought this cup because during my period, my cervix sits very low. I’m 31 and never had kids. I had heard that the size 1 was a good choice for a low cervix. The cup itself is very pretty. I bought mine in the lovely pink color (hope). I really wanted this cup to work, but after 3 cycles I’m afraid this cup is not for me. The rim is very firm and the bottom is more squishy which I find makes it difficult to push into place. When I do get it in place, I can only tolerate this cup for a few hours because I constantly feel it. The firmness of the rim makes it feel like it’s not contouring to my vaginal walls. So it basically feels like I have a big hard mass in me and this never goes away. The bottom grip rings also irritate my vagina. Especially if I’m walking. While the colors the cups come in are beautiful, I do feel that the silicon itself is not as soft and smooth as other cup brands. I have a Ruby Cup in medium and even with my low cervix, it still sits much more comfortably than the smaller SckoonCup in size 1. I think Sckoon should consider some design changes in regards to the grip rings at the bottom.

I cannot express how much I love this cup!!!!!! It is so soft and comfortable that when I woke up this morning, I was worried that I forgot to put it in because I couldn’t feel it! It’s so comfortable and I am so excited to know that I will never have to buy pads or tampons again. I will save so much money and this is a much healthier option. Thank you SckoonCup!!

I am 31-year old, never had a child, physically active…so I bought a size 1 type. Sckoon cup is my first menstrual cup so I cannot compare it with other cups out there, however, I am definitely a big fan of using this cup! I have used tampons so putting a cup in was fairly easy. I struggled with getting it out… I could only got it out in bathroom with full squat position. I tried to get it out in a restroom with normal squat position but it didn’t happen… It was my first cycle so I guess I have to practice more.
I didn’t give full 5 stars for Sckoon cup because I had a slight difficulty with peeing and pooping, and I was not sure if it was because I should have chose a different silicon firmness or its normal..

Even if I could have had a better experience if I chose a different cup, I still give 4.5 stars for Sckoon because it made a huge difference during my menstrual cycle.
It was comfortable, easy, not too messy, oder free, chemical free, eco-friendly, and so on!

This was my first cup and I loved so many things about it: Aesthetically it is very pleasing, I liked the angled holes and placement, the material is very soft and it was easy to use. Unfortunately, after using it for a while, I began to consistently get irritated when using it, and a couple of times I even got a yeast infection during my cycle. I believe the culprit is the ridges at the bottom of the cup, which tends to sit right at my vaginal opening. These can rub and scrape, and while some women won’t find this a problem, I was sad to have to stop using it due to sensitivity. I have tried the Diva cup but did not like it, as it was too firm in comparison. The Si-Bell would probably be a good comparable option for me, and I am also interested in trying out the FemmyCycle Cup. It’s unfortunate that there is really no way to know if a cup is going to work for you until you try it- I am grateful to sites like these so that women can research and have better luck at getting the right cup on the first try.

It’s amazing! Worked on the first try. I used to go through a super plus tampon every three hours, but the large cup keeps me leak-free for up to 10 hours (haven’t tried keeping it in longer). I just wish I bought one years ago.

I LOVE MY CUP!! It really does change your life. You can wear it anytime you feel like you might start. You have the confidence knowing there are no leaks. Go about your day and then later in the evening you check. Even my heavy days, I can go 8 hours without thinking about my period. It is amazing!!

I’ve been using my sckoon cup for about a year and a half now, and I love it. It took a few months to get good at inserting and positioning the cup, but by now it’s quick and easy. I usually insert the cup right after a shower, and enjoy feeling clean for the rest of the day. On heavy days I feel like I need to empty it after 8-9 hours, rather than the usual 12 hours. I use panty liners as a backup for the cup, which has always been enough. My only complaint was that the little stem on the cup kept poking me uncomfortably, and wasn’t sturdy enough to pull the cup out anyway. I trimmed the stem down to about 1/4″ and now it feels better.

First time user but have always worn tampons. I found it very easy to get in and out without any difficulty and it did not leak. I had the smallest size as I am 33 and I have never given birth and I am physically active I am petite in stature (5’2 108lbs). However I will be looking for a different cup because I can’t urinate with this thing in and as a nurse who only gets a few bathroom breaks a 12 hour shift I do not have time to remove it and insert it everytime I try to go to the bathroom. the folks at the company website were helpful as they tried to give me tips and hints to try to reposition it in a way that it would not cause a problem urinating however I may just be very short and I may consider them the meluna shorty options next.
